Semi-Toned, Exeter University’s all-male a cappella sensation are coming to the Barnfield Theatre!

Unique, creative and vocally acrobatic, the group embraces music of a variety of genres to ensure there really is something for everyone in any of their shows. Recent audiences have been wowed by klezmer versions of Gwen Stefani, unlikely mash-ups of Jay-Z and Game of Thrones and the Macarena acted out in the form of an encounter in an Ibiza club in 1996, all, of course, performed in the group’s trademark witty and engaging style.

The group have been the subject of some high profile attention in recent years: having supported Beverley Knight and being featured on pop sensation Olly Murs’ UK-wide tour in 2015, all alongside the release of their highly acclaimed and delightfully charming music video, ‘Rich Man’ which quickly became a viral hit.

Semi-Toned promise to bring to their Barnfield Theatre show the highest calibre of musical entertainment that has made them the national UK a cappella champions, winning the Voice Festival 2015 and placing first at the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella quarter finals, held in Exeter in January 2016.

Semi-Toned at the Barnfield Theatre will be the group’s last home show before they embark on their second tour of the United States, singing their way from Miami to Boston in Spring 2016.

Semi-Toned will be supported by The Accidentals, an all-female a cappella group from St Andrews University. The Accidentals are confident that their ‘Aguilerian’ vocals, killer harmonies, and sassy-but-never-scandalous dance moves will figuratively blow your mind. If you have any doubts whatsoever of the truth of this statement, you should know that they literally won last year’s Scottish A Cappella Championships. Edinburgh Fringe heavyweights, critics have donned the group with five star reviews labelling The Accidentals’ shows ‘engaging, hysterical, moving and vivacious’ and ‘full of fun-loving energy’.

The country’s two top collegiate a cappella groups teaming up for one night only in Exeter is certainly a night not to be missed!
