New Chiefs Cycling Club formed

Following the success of the first-ever European Cycle Challenge back in January, a new cycling club has been formed to carry on the fundraising efforts for years to come.

Exeter Chiefs Cycling has been formed to build on the success of this year’s challenge, which saw 23 riders and four support crew make the 485-mile route from Sandy Park to the Stade Chaban Delmas in Bordeaux, raising over £22,000 for the club’s official charity, Exeter Foundation.

Saddened and upset by discovering her dad died alone in a bare, clinical hospital room, Jennifer Turner has included local charity Hospiscare in her Will.

Here she tells how this simple act has helped her, knowing she’s enabling other local people to face death with dignity, while supported by their family and end of life experts.

The Blackheart Orchestra are coming to Exeter on 13th May to perform at Poltimore House.

A leading South West law firm has appointed a new head of dispute resolution in its Exeter office as business continues to grow. Stephens Scown LLP has appointed partner Catherine Mathews to take over from Chris Harper, who is retiring, at the beginning of its new financial year. Exeter's Kam Powell has been selected for the Great Britain Men's under-19 water polo squad.

The team are ready to compete in the European Championships Qualifiers this week in Antalya where they will face Montenegro, Belgium and the hosts Turkey.

The four-team competition will take place at the Süleyman Erol pool from May 6th-8th and the top two sides will progress to this September’s showpiece tournament in Holland.

The 121st Devon County Show was launched in style by The Countess of Arran and Show Secretary Ollie Allen at Southernhay House, Exeter.

In Spring sunshine the pair revealed a huge line-up of entertainment and the vital role Devon’s largest event plays in the life of the county.

“Every event likes to bill itself as having something for everyone, but few have quite such genuine appeal across the board as the Devon County Show,” said Ollie Allen.
