With Fathers' Day fast approaching, Powderham Castle are hosting a day of fun and games to celebrate dads everywhere.

Please see the press release for more details, but if you would like any further information please feel free to contact myself or my colleague, Bea Gorman, at the below address. Many thanks for your time.

Enjoy a day of fun and games as dads go free at Powderham Castle this Fathers’ Day

This Sunday 19th June, Powderham Castle will be celebrating Fathers’ Day with fun activities and games for all of the family. In addition, every dad accompanied by a paying child will have free entry to the Castle, as we recognise the important role of dads everywhere.

There will be plenty of fun, energetic activities to get involved in throughout the day, from outdoor games on the North Lawn, kindly donated by the House of Marbles, to fun family relays. All of the competitions will be in aid of Powderham Castle’s chosen charities, Riding for the Disabled and the Helen Foundation, who will be hosting an art competition for children and dads who want to get creative.

It wouldn’t be Fathers’ Day without plenty of treats for dad on offer, including juices, jams and chutneys from local producers. The Courtenay Café will also be open and serving its usual array of mouth-watering delights from delicious pasties, ploughman’s and real ciders to the famed Devonshire Cream Tea. The Earl of Devon is widely regarded as the creator of the first cream tea, and so with National Cream Tea Day approaching on Friday 24th June, there’s no better place to indulge in this local treat.

Powderham Castle’s many popular attractions will all be available as usual, including the Deer Park Safari (subject to availability), whilst the American Woodland Garden is still in full early summer bloom and is a lovely place to take a stroll with the family. Indeed it was the favourite place of the present Earl’s recently deceased father so holds special meaning for the Courtenay family.  On your way back, remember to stop off at the Walled Garden Play Area & Pets Corner to visit the animals and enjoy a coffee at the Snack Shack.

Powderham’s Fathers’ Day takes place on Sunday 19th June from 11am – 4.30pm.
