Crowdfunding success for Local Vets

Local Vets, one of the Crowd10 finalists to go live on Crowdcube on 1st June, were the first to reach their crowdfunding target on Wednesday 15 June, just as the remaining finalists are about to launch their campaigns.

The Crowd10 initiative, which was the brainchild of crowdfunding expert Kirsty Ranger at IdeaSquares, nurtured some of the most promising start-ups from the South West on their crowdfunding journey.

Sainsbury’s Pinhoe donates £5k to local charity

Sainsbury’s Pinhoe has marked a year of fundraising for their 2015 Charity of the Year, Rainbow Living, with the presentation of a cheque for £5,207.

Goths and Zombies sought for North Devon movie

Producers launched ongoing interviews for actors, technicians, make-up artists and costume specialists in North Devon today for a production named The Incident Room which is to be shot in and around Bideford, Devon, where the tale is set.

The production’s spokesperson said: “Goths and Zombies are welcome to audition as well as horror fans willing to join the fun as extras. Other actors are welcome too of course.”

Nowell starts for England

George Ford (Bath Rugby) and Jack Nowell (Exeter Chiefs) return to the England starting 15 for the second Test match against Australia in Melbourne on Saturday, 18 June (kick-off 11am BST, live on Sky Sports 1).

The Dissenters Graveyard in Exeter will open to visitors between 11am and 4pm on Saturday 25th June.

South West care home market sees "increased activity"

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has reported increased activity in the care home market in the South West over the first half of 2016 as compared to the same period last year.

Christie & Co’s South West team, which includes offices in Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter, has completed on 40% more care businesses, and agreed deals at an increase of almost 25%, than this time last year.
