Four women who rowed 8,000 miles from the San Francisco in the United States to Cairns in Australia unsupported will share their remarkable story at a film screening and question and answer session at the University of Exeter on Wednesday May 17 2017.

The Coxless Crew ( http://coxlesscrew.com/ ), as they are collectively known, spent nine months – or 281 days – at sea in a 29 foot rowing boat called Doris, facing extreme mental and physical challenges. They raised over £65,000 for Walking With the Wounded and Breast Cancer Care.

The integration of Devon company Bandvulc, the UK’s largest truck tyre retreader, and innovative brand leader Continental less than a year ago is already delivering results, according to Managing Director Patrick O’Connell.

250 cinemas are hosting dedicated autism friendly cinema screenings this month right across the UK in partnership with Dimensions, a national not-for-profit support provider for people with learning disabilities and autism. New Steinway grand piano for Exeter School - on loan for musicians in and out of school

Exeter School is delighted to be in receipt of a Steinway piano. The beautiful model B piano is on loan to Exeter School for use by the school and local community.

Director of Music Peter Tamblyn said the piano was like the Rolls Royce of pianos and he was very grateful for the opportunity to hire such an instrument.

"This concert-hall standard grand piano is often called 'the perfect piano' and is a wonderfully balanced and versatile instrument," he said.

Woodburn crowned Chiefs' Player of the Year

Olly Woodburn described being crowned as the Exeter Chiefs Player of the Year as his “proudest moment” in rugby following the club’s annual awards night on Thursday.

The talented winger, who last weekend was crowned the Supporters’ Player of the Year, scooped the top award in front of a record-breaking crowd of 641 people at Sandy Park.

Conservatives extend majority control of Devon County Council

The Conservatives have won control of Devon County Council for the third time in a row.

The Conservatives won 42 of the 60 seats on the new authority with Labour and the Liberal Democrats winning seven seats apiece and three Independents and a Green being elected.

There was an overall turnout of 40.2 per cent of the 601,797 eligible voters.
