Over the last decade, around a half-a-million bespoke Devon made map jigsaws have been shipped to America, including 40,000 last year alone.

Exeter revealed as UK city with highest debt levels

Despite being named by the Sunday Times as one of the top 10 most desirable cities to live in the UK, people living in Exeter owe an average of more than £20,000 each - according to a national free debt advice provider. Compiling a list of the top 10 UK cities with the highest debts, PayPlan found that people living in Exeter are saddled with debts of £20,375 from credit cards and loans – significantly more than the national average of £13,000, reported in recent figures revealed by the TUC. SW economy loses momentum in June

The South West economy lost momentum in June as business activity growth slowed, according to the latest Lloyds Bank UK Regional PMI® survey.

The South West PMI fell to 52.6 in June, from 53.8 in May. A reading greater than 50.0 signifies growth in business activity.

The latest reading signalled the slowest rise in activity since the month after the EU referendum. The PMI reading was also below the UK average (53.8).

Despite this, firms continued to create jobs, marking 12 months of continuous employment growth in the region.

Unit 1 supports RD&E’s children’s Ward with £2,000 donation

The generosity of customers at Exeter’s Unit 1 Night Club has helped to fund a brand new blood pressure machine for the Paediatric Outpatients Department at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The club has raised almost £2,000 for the unit on Bramble Ward through the Echo Trust’s ‘Give a Kid a Quid’ campaign at key events and club nights throughout the year.

Devon MP suspended for using racist expression

The MP for Newton Abbot has been suspended from the Conservative Party after she was recorded using a racist expression during a public discussion.

Anne Marie Morris used the phrase when describing the prospect of the UK leaving the EU without a deal at an event in London.

She told the BBC: "The comment was totally unintentional. I apologise unreservedly for any offence caused."

The Conservative Party later confirmed she had been suspended.
