Five star housebuilder Barratt Developments has appointed Matt Bennett as finance director for its Exeter-based operations which builds homes under the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands.

Matt has extensive experience working on the finance side of large companies with spells at Rotork, FlyBe, Sony PlayStation and Rank Group on his CV and said he is enjoying transferring his expertise to the housing sector.

An Exeter dance Studio has found a novel way to demonstrate the importance of moving with the times and offering up to date dance classes.

DanSci Dance Studio owned by Ava Barron Thomas released a hilarious 1980s Aerobics satire. Ava and Harley Burrell, Faculty Director donned their shiny lycra and high kicked their way around the studio floor.

500 ducklings perish in blaze

Fire crews were called to a report of an agricultural shed well alight at Blackborough.

One fire appliance from Cullompton, one fire appliance from Honiton, one water bowser from Danes Castle and one off road vehicle from Middelmoor were dispatched to the incident at 9.40pm yesterday (THURS).

When crews arrived they identified an agricultural shed well alight involving three propane cylinders and sadly approximately 500 ducklings. Crews got to work extinguishing the fire with the use of the fogging unit from the off road vehicle.

Artist and students transform cardboard into stunning artwork

A local artist has worked with students from the University of Exeter Medical School to create a striking sculpture made from a humble everyday material: cardboard.

Exeter artist James Lake began sculpting as part of his recovery after losing his leg through bone cancer aged 17. James now uses cardboard as his medium of choice, creating intricately detailed life-size sculptures from the recyclable material.
