Local brain injury charity Headway Devon is proud to have joined a national scheme that aims to prevent people falling victim to scams.

Friends Against Scams is an initiative run by National Trading Standards which aims to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams by empowering communities to "Take a Stand Against Scams".

As part of the scheme all Headway Devon staff are being offered training in recognising scams and supporting people to avoid becoming victims of fraud.

Ruth Wells, Chief Executive of Headway Devon, said: “Scams affect millions of people in the UK and acquired brain injury can leave people more vulnerable and at risk of falling victim to scams. It is important that we educate our staff about the warning signs so that we can keep our clients safe, improve awareness of scams and support people to make good decisions.”
