Exeter Chiefs to join University for Community Day

The University of Exeter is hosting a fun-filled family event on Saturday 17 March and will be joined by Rugby Premiership Champions, Exeter Chiefs to help celebrate on the day.

The Spring Community Day is the University’s second event of its kind which will see the Streatham Campus open to the public with a range of free activities, events, workshops and music taking place throughout the day.

Innovative new research has suggested that physical activity around the time people are diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes could have long-term health benefits, improve blood glucose levels, reduce hypos and reduce the risk of complications, such as retinopathy and neuropathy.

It is believed that around 60 per cent of adults newly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes experience a ‘honeymoon’ period. This means the beta cells in their pancreas are still working and their body is still sensitive to insulin, which means they don’t need much of it.

When Neil Brown, aged 53 from Dunkeswell, started swimming regularly at the age of 28 he had no idea how large a part of his life it would become. Appeal after eight injured in East Devon collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision on the A35 near Axminster at the weekend which left eight people injured.

Emergency services were called at 6.30pm on Sunday [11 March] following the collision between a blue Peugeot 207 and a blue Ford S-Max just east of Abbey Gate Farm.

Eight people, including three children, from the two cars sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The A35 was closed in both directions at Axminster and re-opened at 9.55pm.

Police are investigating the collision and asking for any witnesses to contact them...

Exeter joins in national recognition of baby loss

On Saturday 14th April 2018 at 1pm, Exeter Cathedral will hold the first in a set of national remembrance services for people who have experienced baby loss, whether during pregnancy, at birth or in infancy.

Nearly 20 services will be held around the UK, allowing bereaved parents, families and friends to join together in acknowledging and remembering babies that have gone too soon.

The services are organised by The Mariposa Trust, which held its first service at Exeter Cathedral in 2012, and celebrated its 100th service at the end of 2017 in Westminster, London.
