Exeter Deaf Academy is delighted to partner with local Devon based Sportiva Events, to support the new Adult and Junior Triathlon events coming to Exmouth on Sunday 20 May.


The event is open to all from 8 years upwards, starting from Exmouth Rugby Club. The adult races include a sprint tri and beginners’ event with a variety of traffic free distances available for junior entrants. Merging two well established legal firms is quite an undertaking, but as of the 1st April 2018 Wollen Michelmore merged with Morgan & Pope in Exeter, making this their 5th office around Devon others include Torquay, Newton Abbot, Barnstaple and Dartmouth.

Wartime hospital past of Exeter landmark building commemorated

The First World War hospital past of one of Exeter’s landmark buildings and the contribution of doctors and nurses who worked there will be commemorated.

Reed Hall, then called Streatham Hall, housed injured soldiers between 1917 and 1919. It was one of the city’s seven temporary wartime treatment centres for troops.

Experts have uncovered incredible first-hand accounts from those accommodated in the hospitals, as well as medical staff who worked there. Now a heritage plaque will be installed on Reed Hall to mark this history.

YMCA Exeter collaborate with the University of Exeter to record music album

Residents and volunteers at YMCA Exeter are delighted to announce that a recording of their EP album “Blessing” is now available online to download from Spotify, Amazon, Deezer, Google Play and iTunes.

The EP album is the result of a joint project called ‘Making Invisible People Visible’, between YMCA Exeter and Professor Paul Cloke at The University of Exeter. The album took YMCA Exeter residents’ on an emotional journey through song-writing, creativity and public performance, giving them the opportunity to make their voices heard.

A new survey released today by UIA Mutual Insurance reveals that when we aren’t leaving our keys with other people, many of us will hide them in hidden locations outside of our house. The most popular hiding places are under a flower pot (14%), under the doormat (12%) and in the garden shed (7%). According to figures from ONS, 70% of home intruders in the UK gained entry through a household door, and 30% and through a window.
