New foodie initiative set to boost food and drink businesses in Exeter and Greater Exeter

Exeter and Greater Exeter food and drink businesses are being invited to sign up to an exciting new initiative which is set to place Exeter on the map as a major new foodie destination.

Due to be launched in time for summer 2018, the new Exeter Food and Drink Trail, which is being created by Visit Exeter, aims to embrace businesses that celebrate local produce, both in the dishes that they create, and the artisan produce that they harvest, craft or sell.

Community tournament celebrating diversity will take place on World Cup Final Day

EXETER City Football Club is marking the day of the World Cup Final (Sunday, July 15, 2018) by holding its own special international tournament for both men and women's teams.

The Club will once again celebrate diversity in the local community when its annual summer five-a-side tournament is held at the University of Exeter’s Streatham Sports Park.

The competition encourages participation from black and minority ethnic teams and attracts players from many different parts of the world. Past finalists include sides representing Poland, Slovakia, Africa, Afghanistan, Lithuania...

Improvements proposed to reduce surface water in Exeter

A series of essential improvements to reduce surface water on roads in Exeter are being put to Devon County Council's Cabinet this week (Wednesday 11 July).

Councillors are being asked to approve a proposed £450,000 scheme for the upper Northbrook area of Exeter, which is at high risk of surface water flooding.

Devon County Council has been leading an investigation on the risk of surface water flooding in Exeter, working in partnership with Exeter City Council, South West Water, the Environment Agency and Network Rail to prioritise areas for improvements.

Auto Windscreens, a leading UK glass repair and replacement specialist, is delighted to announce that its Exeter centre, on Bradman Way, has become a carbon neutral business.

University Crowdfunder races past £12k thanks to Eagle One

A University Crowdfunding Campaign to help student entrepreneurs stay in the city after graduation, has raced to its first milestone of £12,000 in less than a week.

Exeter’s GEM (Graduate Entrepreneur Maintenance) Fund will cover student entrepreneurs’ living costs, idea development and marketing. There will also be a new incubation space at the University’s Innovation Centre to offer graduate entrepreneurs work space, advice, support, skills training and technical facilities.

On the evening of Saturday 28th July, locals are set to be delighted by the Regimental Band of the Coldstream Guards performing inside the atmospheric Exeter Cathedral.

As has happened in other periods of history, we are now witnessing a surge in the growth of ‘tribalism’. This is partly the consequence of a culture which anonymises people to such a degree that it produces pervasive loneliness and alienation.
