World’s first environmental-themed sports event to take place in Exeter

The world’s first environmental-themed multi-sports event will take place in Exeter next summer, it has been revealed. Formerly the South West Youth Games, The Planet Earth Games is a new concept set to be launched in 2019.

The organisers are promising the event will be bigger than ever – and better for the environment.

In fact, they are aiming to leave Exeter cleaner than they found it, with community litter collections, the use of recycled materials, zero single-use plastic and be at the forefront of the best practice in sustainability in sport.

A spell has been cast over Killerton this Christmas as volunteers and staff at Killerton, near Exeter, have worked together to create magical photos to reflect the story of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Snow Queen. The company, which is one of the UK’s market leaders for software, online customer portals and real-time data solutions in the insurtech sector, is set for a 40 per cent increase in its workforce, with a range of new roles being introduced across the business.

Exminster residents were thrilled when Father Christmas took time out from his busy schedule to make a special visit to the village.

Santa delighted young and old alike as he toured the village with one of his elf’s on a specially decorated tractor donated by Berrybrook Garage.
