Support for £1.3m cycle and pedestrian bridge proposals

Proposals for a pedestrian and cycle bridge over Summer Lane in Exeter have received the support of Devon County Council’s Cabinet today (Wednesday 9 January).

Councillors approved the construction of the £1.3 million bridge, which will form part of the E4 cycle route from Monkerton to the city centre, subject to planning permission being granted.

East Devon District Council has further demonstrated its commitment to the environment through its collection boxes for the recycling of light bulbs.

It will be working alongside Recolight – a Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment compliance scheme for the lighting industry - and town and parish councils, to help residents recycle their low-energy bulbs.

The Devon Art Society together with the Brixham Art Societies and the Torbay Guild of Artists (TGA) will be staging the Riviera Art Fair at the Spanish Barn, Torre Abbey, Torquay. Plan revealed to close 15 public toilets in Exeter

Proposals to close a number of public toilets in Exeter which are no longer considered fit for purpose are set to be discussed by councillors. The City Council’s Executive will be asked to approve a public consultation on permanently closing 15 public conveniences to achieve budget savings and enable a balanced budget to be set. Council reconsiders Public Space Protection Order on dog controls

Proposals to introduce a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for dog fouling and control are to be reconsidered by Teignbridge’s Full Council.

Council will meet on Monday 14 January at 10.30am to look again at the proposals.

The decision comes after the Executive re-examined the draft PSPO following recommendations by Overview and Scrutiny Committee (O&S) to alter elements of the draft order.
