Another excellent year of A Level results for Exeter School

Exeter School pupils, parents, staff and governors are pleased to announce an excellent set of A Level results, with a 100% pass rate. Thirty-four pupils scored three or more A* or A grades, with almost a quarter - 20% - of all results at A*. 53% of all grades were A* or A, with four out of every five grades - 81% - coming in at A*, A or B. Students from Colyton Grammar School (CGS) have again achieved excellent A-level results, far outstripping the national average for A and A* grades.

Some 66% of students achieved A and A* grades, compared with the national average of 25.5%. Overall, 87.1% achieved grades from A* to B, with the school outperforming its results from last year and bucking the national trend.

Exeter College is celebrating another year of exceptional academic results, following the best International Baccalaureate results in the college’s history earlier this summer. Today’s A Level results are also setting new records, with students achieving an overall pass rate of 99.7%, well above the national average of 97.6%.

The success is particularly notable as this is the first year that all A Level results have rested solely on a final exam at the end of two years of academic study, rather than a combination of results achieved over two years.

Two Emergency Medicine doctors at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust are swapping their scrubs for the sea as they attempt to row 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, in aid of Devon Air Ambulance.

Charlie Fleury and Rosie Alterman, who make up the ‘EmergenSea Girls’, are planning to take part in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in December 2020. Stagecoach SW offers passengers more chances to travel further for less this summer

Stagecoach South West has announced it is continuing the trial of the Exeter plus boundary extension until the end of August.

Extending the Exeter plus boundary, beyond the city, offers a reduction to the cost of bus journeys for passengers travelling to/from Newton Poppleford, Sidmouth and Sidford.

A trial of the extension started on Sunday 14 July and was due to finish on Sunday 11 August, however, in order to give members of the public more opportunity to use the service, the trial has been extended for an additional three weeks, until Saturday 31 August.
