AN EXETER care provider says its industry is one of the most rewarding and it is very concerned a recent study found a third of workers leave the sector each year (2019).

A five-year-old girl from Exeter and two ten-year-old girls from Tavistock have won the top prizes in this year’s art and writing competitions held by the Devon branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE Devon).

Inspirational Devon headteacher awarded honorary degree

An inspirational Devon headteacher who helped transform a city school has been awarded an honorary degree.

The achievements of Moira Marder, Chief Executive Officer of The Ted Wragg Multi-Academy Trust, have been recognised by the University of Exeter.

RSPCA braced for a ‘hectic hedgehog’ month as calls spike in July

July looks set to be ‘hectic hedgehog’ month for the RSPCA after calls about the prickly creatures peaked during this time last year.

From a total of 10,644 calls about hedgehogs made to the RSPCA’s national helpline throughout 2018, the number of calls spiked in July at 1867. Calls from the South West region1 totalled 10002 in 2018, 156 of which were made in July.

Across 2018, an average of 5.7 hedgehogs per day were admitted to one of the charity’s four specialist wildlife centres, but in the peak month of July, this rose to an average of 12.4 per day or one every two...

Libraries across Devon and Torbay are calling for children to sign up to the Space Chase mission to read six books this summer as part of the 2019 Summer Reading Challenge.

Anyone aged 4-11 is invited to take part in this out-of-this-world adventure by picking up a mission folder from their local library, choosing two books on each visit to the library throughout the summer and collecting stickers and rewards along the way as they rocket their way towards the finish line to claim a special medal.
