People in Exeter, and the surrounding area, are being given the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of local people with dementia by becoming Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friends Champions. People can book now to attend a touring induction day that is coming to the area on Friday 18 October.

Exeter Racecourse will be raising money for the Devon Air Ambulance at its race meeting on Sunday, November 24 and the meeting will kick-off in fine style with the first Dartmoor Hillies race.

Eight ponies bred on Dartmoor will come dashing down the home straight and racegoers will be able to place their bets, with every penny donated to the charity.

Part of a collection of vintage glasses sold at a recent Chilcotts sale shows that the fascinating political situation faced today is nothing new.

University of Exeter signs clean energy deal

Universities including Exeter have joined forces to sign a landmark green energy deal.

Under the ground-breaking “aggregated power purchase agreements” (PPA), 20 UK universities will buy £50m of renewable energy from a portfolio of wind farms.

The deal fixes power prices at a competitive rate for the next ten years and will help to ensure that all of the University of Exeter’s electricity continues to come from renewable sources.

Cream teas raise over £1k for air ambulance trusts

RGB Building Supplies raised a fantastic £1,492.68 for Devon and Cornwall’s air ambulance trusts on Friday 13th September during a company-wide Great Cream Tea Day.

The event took place during National Air Ambulance Week, which aims to highlight the life-saving work done by all trusts across the country. In return for a donation, visitors to RGB’s Exeter branch were able to enjoy a delicious scone, cream and jam.
