It’s all systems go for Exeter Racecourse this Sunday which is an additional fixture with last weekend’s meeting cancelled due to Storm Ciara.

The seven-race fixture mirrors the lost card and includes important races that are regarded as stepping stones for next month’s Cheltenham Festival.

With excellent prize money on offer, there will be some star horses in action , giving Westcountry racegoers an excellent opportunity to enjoy some top class racing.

The role of an Exeter-born Royal Navy Lieutenant in helping to protect the fragile independence of Estonia and Latvia at the end of WW1 is one of the personal stories featured in a new book that’s published next month.

The City of Exeter has received national recognition for its exceptional recruitment of Apprentices. In a period where Apprenticeships starts have fallen, Exeter has bucked the national trend to sit at the top of the league table of the nation’s cities.

Exeter in global initiative to use wearables to revolutionise dementia detection

The University of Exeter is part of a global initiative to revolutionise the early detection of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.

Led by Alzheimer’s Research UK, the project will harness and analyse a wealth of digital data to develop signatures of disease – or “fingerprints” – that can be then detected using wearable technologies, such as smart watches. A major new partnership is helping to tackle skills shortages facing six NHS Trusts across the South West of England.

Birmingham City University joined forces with half-a-dozen Trusts in the region three years ago, to help train professionals to provide care for patients who are having surgery.

Now 20 new Operating Department Practitioners have been added to the South West’s health workforce to help address staff shortages in the area.

Throughout the years, there have been calls for the United Kingdom to change sports betting regulations with the market growing to reach new, unprecedented heights.
