Stagecoach South West, part of the UK’s leading bus operator, is proud to recognise the quick thinking and compassion of one of its drivers, Ashton Worth, whose prompt response helped an injured passenger during an incident at the Exeter Bus Station on Friday, 10th October 2025.

During the morning, an elderly passenger suffered a fall while making her way to a bus bay. The woman, who was unsteady on her feet, fell and hit her head, causing her glasses to break and resulting in a deep cut.

Ashton Worth, who has been with the company for 1 year and 9 months, was among the first to respond. He immediately went to the woman’s aid, ensuring she was safely supported and reassured while also calling for an ambulance. Ashton quickly coordinated with others on site, sending for a first aid kit and a trained first aider, to ensure the woman received appropriate care until paramedics arrived.

Thanks to Ashton’s calm and caring actions, the injured passenger remained as comfortable and at ease as possible during what could have been a distressing experience.

Stagecoach South West, commends Ashton for his professionalism, empathy, and decisive action in a moment of need. His conduct reflects the company’s commitment to safety, care, and community service.

Katie Wagstaff, Operations Director, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Ashton and the way he handled the situation. His quick response and kindness made all the difference for someone in distress, and he represents the very best of our team.”

The passenger was taken to hospital by ambulance and is now recovering well.
