Time is running out for community organisations, schools, sports clubs and charities to apply for a turf-tastic prize from HCT Turf, with a deadline for nominations of Thursday 12th September.

One deserving nominee will receive up to 150 square metres of high-quality turf, grown locally and professionally installed, a donation worth hundreds of pounds.

‘Turf it Forward’ aims to support groups that make a difference in their local communities. And the timing couldn’t be better, as turf has had a tough time of it over the summer with this being deemed “almost certainly” the hottest summer on record according to the Met Office.

While recent rainfall will help established turf to revive and turn back to green from the khaki colour we’ve been seeing, there may be sections that are permanently damaged.

To be in with a chance of winning the substantial amount of turf, simply email sales@wesellturf.com with:

•              Details of the nominee (yourself or another organisation)

•              A short explanation of why the turf is needed

•              An approximate size of the area to be turfed

There are a few conditions to be met, as nominees must be within 20 miles of HCT’s HQ in Topsham and have good vehicular access to the ground to facilitate delivery. Full terms and conditions are available on HCT’s website.

HCT turf specialist Richard Hockley said: “We launched this giveaway because we want to give something back to one of the organisations that do so much for the community.

“It’s easy to enter so give it a go and you never know, it might be your club, school or community group that has some lovely new turf to enjoy!”

The winner will be announced before the end of September and installation organised when ground conditions are favourable, most likely during the autumn or spring.
