Top 5 major gamblers

Casino gambling is a growing industry, both online and the land-based casinos. More and more people start to gamble, and people also spend more money gambling. With so many new and upcoming casino sites, and the steady stream of new slot machines the trend is likely to keep going up.

1. Macau tops the list

About half of Macau’s revenue is made up from their casinos. It’s truly a gamblers paradise, even though most online gambling is illegal in the rest of China. However, China is making it harder on the casinos in Macau, which have led to some of the casinos found themselves in a bit of struggle.

2. USA – Nevada, New Jersey & Delaware

Many states in the US have legalized land-based casino, but most of them still ban online gambling. Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware were the first ones out in 2013 to regulate online casinos. In the whole of the US, the gambling industry has a worth of $261 billion and provides work for about 1,8 million people.

3. UK’s right in the middle

More than a third of the population in the UK gamble on a weekly basis. More than £14 billion was made from the gambling industry alone in 2018. Worth noting is that during the years of 2014-2015 around £195 million from the lotteries were donated to charity.

4. Australia tops the percentage in numbers of gamblers

Over 80% of the people in Australia gambles on casinos. Spending around $18 billion per year, they are also the country that bet most in the whole world. Sportsbetting is also on the rise since the state-run TAB now allows bettings on several different sports.

5. Canada one of the leading gambling regions thanks to their liberal approach

In 2017 it was estimated that nearly 30 million Canadians were engaging in some form of gambling. The industry makes about $15 billion each year. Ontario and Quebec are top areas for gambling in Canada.

New gambling sites on the rise

The number of online casinos is also on a steady rise, but better up – the quality is also increasing. With more competitors, they need to stand out to win customers. This pushes the creativity to create a better gaming experience for their customers, and this has a positive effect on everything from customer support to choice of games and much more.
