Beyond Brexit: Looking at the health of the Eurozone

People in Exeter – and right across the UK – have rightly been focussed on the ongoing battle to deliver Brexit which has dominated domestic headlines ever since the divisive 2016 referendum.

Yet, with the focus firmly on negotiations between Brussels and Westminster, there’s a distinct danger that we take our eye off the equally-serious matter of the future of the Eurozone. 

The post-crash period was defined by a debt crisis that threatened to bring the whole EU project and associated single currency down, with the very real fear that Greece would default on its debt. There’s a danger, however, that the crisis has not gone away. 

Indeed, a guide from DailyFX shows how some recent developments are similar to the problems that caused the debt crisis, prompting fears of a second wave of issues on the horizon. Indeed, there’s a chance the Eurozone crisis could yet overshadow Brexit and be the biggest issue affecting the continent in the years to come.
