From 9 – 24 February professional photographer David Garner serves up a delicious feast of images in an exhibition entitled ‘While there’s tea there’s hope!’ at A la Ronde, the National Trust property at Summer Lane, Exmouth.

The photographs were taken as part of David’s ongoing project ‘This Sceptred Isle’, which explores a vision of British society that glories in tradition and heritage.

David says: ‘Tea epitomizes the theme of Britishness. Class, ritual and empire are all components of our national character that make us who we are today. There is a perception of the past tense, of history, when Britain was a powerful empire, an industrial powerhouse and a society that upheld the hereditary class structure. How times change.’

David studied at the School of Photography, Birmingham Polytechnic from 1974-77. For over 25 years he has worked as a photographer in the South West with clients in both the public and private sectors.

A la Ronde is open daily from 9–24 February and entry to the exhibition which is open from 10.30am–5.30pm is free.
