Tesco Exeter Vale’s boost to Music in Devon Initiative
The Tesco Extra store in Exeter Vale has lent a helping hand to the Music in Devon Initiative’s Soundtribe Programme by sponsoring £5,000.
Music in Devon Initiative (MIDI) is a non-profit organisation founded by a group of local musicians and industry professionals. Its aim is to develop emerging talent and opportunities throughout Devon. Soundtribe is a youth programme funded by MIDI, working at grassroots level, the programme provides fully equipped rehearsal space, tuition, and guidance for young people from experienced professional musicians.
Jo Evans, community champion at the Extra store in Exeter Vale Shopping Centre, said: “The Music in Devon’s Soundtribe programme is such a vital project for the youth in our community and the wider Devon area. As such, we wanted to help fund the project for it to continue to develop youth talent in our area.”
Nick Hall, MIDI director said: “Soundtribe has supported over a hundred 16-25 year olds. The programme helps develop and support music coaching for youths and young adults who would normally find themselves secluded. The programme provides them with the opportunity to come together and play music. We have been in need of funding and the Tesco Exeter Vale store’s sponsorship of £5,000 will help to pay for rehearsals to continue, teachers’ time and music equipment.”
The Tesco Exeter Vale Extra store is open 24 hours from Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
