Fire crews called to Riverside Leisure Centre

Fire crews were called to Exeter’s Riverside Leisure Centre at Exe Bridges this morning, after a call reporting a possible smell of gas in the basement and lift shaft.

Crews confirmed an unidentified leak and light smoke fogging in the lift shaft by using a gas detector.

Having confirmed a leak of hydraulic oil from lift equipment, crews isolated the lift equipment to make it safe using small tools.
