
Passenger assaulted at Exeter rail station
British Transport Police detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following an incident which allegedly took place at Digby and Sowton Station on Tuesday 1 July.
When the 11.26pm service to Exeter arrived at Digby and Sowton station, a disturbance broke out which saw train staff threatened and passenger assaulted by two men who had got on the train at the station.
Two male youths are also reported to have fled from the station after telling another passenger that they had been threatened by two men at the station.
Two men, aged 21 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of assault and have been bailed until 16 July, pending further enquiries.
DC Dean Jeffery, investigating officer, said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am today appealing for anyone who witnessed anything untoward at the station, or on board the 11.26pm Exeter train, on the night of Tuesday, 1 July, to come forward.
“I am particularly keen to trace and speak to the two youths who were reported to have run from the station. I stress that they are not believed to have done anything wrong but they may have vital information which can assist the investigation.”
