Hitting the saddle for Fight for Sight
Husband and wife duo Jilly (59) and Nigel (63) Rumble, from Hemyock set off on a 1,000 mile cycle for Fight for Sight today.
The pair, who retired three years ago, are cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End and are looking forward to completing the challenge.
Jilly, who worked at Fight for Sight, the main UK’s charity that’s dedicated to funding pioneering eye research to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease, for eight years before retiring was keen to support the charity.
Jilly said: “I am honoured to have worked for Fight for Sight and during my time working there I’ve been involved with some of the life-changing projects that have helped improve the lives of children born with debilitating eye conditions and older people whose quality of life is so seriously affected when their sight deteriorates.
“Nigel and I wanted a challenge and we were keen to support Fight for Sight and the vital work they do. Eye sight is so precious and the funds raised will help to give hope to those living with sight loss and for anyone in the future who might be affected by eye condition. We are proud of the difference that we are making in finding a cure for sight loss.”
Michele Acton, Fight for Sight’s Chief Executive, who worked with Jilly said: “We are really grateful that Jilly continues to fly the Fight for Sight flag and helps to raise vital funds. Every day 100 people will start to lose their sight and we are determined to make sight loss a thing of the past. I cannot stress the importance of our supporters, like Jilly and Nigel, who help to support our mission.
“I would like to pass on my personal best wishes and I know everyone from Fight for Sight is extremely proud of them. So a huge thank you for all your hard work.”
