Man arrested attempting to enter Buckingham Palace with knife

A man has been arrested after attempting to enter Buckingham Palace with a knife today.

The 44-year-old was caught immediately at the north centre gate by the Metropolitan Police and remains in custody.

The man was searched and found to be in possession of a knife but no one has been injured.

Buckingham Palace has said that the Queen was out of the building at the time of the incident.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a protected site and possession of an offensive weapon.
