For those interested in a bit of culture, the non-profit organization Eurasia is known for projects that bring different countries together through culture, history, and (perhaps most importantly) education. Their newest initiative, the international art competition and exhibition called "Art and Peace: The Great Victory of Life," celebrates the values of peace and coming together. This event is part of their ongoing efforts to keep the memory of history alive, especially the stories from the Second World War.

Ryanair call in Spanish police to remove woman from a plane

(NewsPoint) – A female passenger was marched off a Ryanair jet by police officers moments before take-off.

A video, originally posted on Facebook, shows a Spanish Guardia Civil officer ejecting the woman from the aircraft at Valencia airport for allegedly having one too many items of hand luggage.

The woman, who carried a book and a scroll on board, was ejected because they would not fit in her suitcase and has caused outrage online, with many calling on the airline to be boycotted.

Fellow passengers can be heard shouting "shameful, shameful" as she is escorted off...

(NewsPoint) – Some New Yorkers whose homes lost electricity may have to wait more than two weeks to get it back especially if their homes are the only ones on the block that lost power during the storm, utility officials said Thursday.

But some are not letting the lack of electricity stopping them.

Katz, a deli that has survived three depressions, numerous recessions and two World Wars is continuing to operate using candles and a cash only bar. Described by many as the best deli in NYC, the deli has been operating since 1888.

(NewsPoint) –The Coast Guard rescued 14 people from life rafts in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 90 miles southeast of Hatteras N.C., Monday, and two remain missing. The 14 people were flown to Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., where they were met by awaiting emergency medical services personnel at approximately 10:15 a.m. with no life threatening injuries.

Amsterdam police yesterday arrested 25 football fans in central Amsterdam ahead of the crucial Champions League match between Ajax Amsterdam and Manchester City, a police spokeswoman said.

Hurricane Sandy sweeps over Jamaica

Hurricane Sandy swept over Jamaica on Wednesday, bringing heavy rains and rising winds. The hurricane also tore down power lines and trees.
