25 football fans arrested ahead of Champions League match

Amsterdam police yesterday arrested 25 football fans in central Amsterdam ahead of the crucial Champions League match between Ajax Amsterdam and Manchester City, a police spokeswoman said.

The game, which Ajax won 3-1, was a crucial game after both sides have had a poor start to their campaigns.

The arrests took place in the early evening in the city's red light district.

"Most of them were arrested for public violence," said Marjolein Koek, spokeswoman for the police. (NewsPoint)
