Pensioners and their loved ones are being urged to take up Pension Credit as new figures show an estimated £1.7bn in benefit is being left unclaimed.

Currently, over 1.4 million pensioners in Britain receive Pension Credit. However, many are still not claiming this extra financial help that can be worth over £3,300 a year.

Stagecoach, the country’s biggest bus and coach operator, is ready to help keep Britain on the move as people plan alternative travel to avoid the disruption caused by next week’s rail strikes.

A recent report from the National Water Safety Forum (NWSF) showed that Devon saw a rise in accidental drownings in 2021, meaning it becomes the second highest county in the UK.

In 2021, there were 10 accidental drownings reported in Devon, an increase of three on the previous year. The average age of victims was 55 years old, with the site of fatalities being split between the coast and the county’s rivers. With a 15% surge in fly-tipping on England’s highways, drivers are urged to be the nation's eyes and report incidents to catch those responsible.
