A 16-month-old toddler is described as being in a "serious but stable condition" in Derriford Hospital after falling more than 100ft (30 metres) from a fifth-floor flat on Saturday morning.

The girl, who has not been named, suffered internal injuries after the fall from the window of her home just off Savage Road, in the Barne Barton area of Plymouth.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene of the incident which happened just before 8.30am on Saturday 7 July. The little girl was quickly taken to hospital.

Although Devon and Cornwall Police are continuing to investigate to establish exactly what happened, it is believed the girl may have fallen from a small balcony adjoining the flat.

Police say they are not treating the incident as suspicious.
