10 Years of Truth: Getting to Know Truth Legal Solicitors
In 2022, law firm Truth Legal celebrated its 10th birthday – a milestone which we see as a giant stamp of endorsement on our approach of providing ethical legal services to people across the country.
It’s something which our clients have responded to as well. Our ‘Excellent’ ratings on both TrustPilot and ReviewSolicitors are a heart-warming reminder of some of the people we’ve been able to help with their legal problems over the years.
But how did we get to where we are? Let’s rewind a bit.
The start of it all
In 2012 – a year which saw the release of Gangnam Style, and a bizarre incident in which then-Prime Minister David Cameron left his 8-year-old daughter at the pub – Truth Legal was born. It was founded by Andrew Gray, who instantly became the firm’s most productive (and only) employee at the time.
Many talented lawyers have joined us and made their mark on the company over the years. Georgina Parkin joined Truth Legal in 2013 as a trainee solicitor and qualified soon after. She is now the firm’s managing director. And over the years, other solicitors have joined with different fields of expertise, allowing Truth Legal to help its clients in new areas of law.
The work we do
Originally, Truth Legal was focused on helping people who had been assaulted at work and wanted to claim compensation for their injuries. This area of work is still very much a part of what we do today but our personal injury department has expanded to cover a much wider range of situations, including:
- Accidents at work
- Road traffic accidents
- Slips, trips and falls
- Serious and complex injury claims
- Chronic pain claims
And, as we mentioned above, we’ve expanded our legal services into other areas over the years. Now Truth Legal also offers services in:
- Employment law – helping individuals and businesses with their employment rights, and disputes and claims (such as unfair dismissal, whistleblowing, and discrimination)
- Clinical negligence – covering compensation claims for medical mistakes, botched cosmetic procedures, dental negligence, and other sub-standard healthcare.
- Immigration – providing assistance to businesses and individuals in all aspects of immigration law, including visa applications, sponsoring skilled workers, and HR support on immigration matters.
- Family law – helping families to resolve disputes, such as divorce proceedings, and legal issues over children, as well as preventing possible issues through pre- and post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.
As you might imagine, our team of expert solicitors at Truth Legal has grown considerably to cover all of these areas. In fact, from Andrew Gray on his own in 2012, Truth Legal’s staff now consists of 28 employees and consultants.
Ethical legal services?
One of the founding principles of Truth Legal was the idea that legal services should be affordable, accessible, and delivered with honesty and integrity. This is something to which we have held true throughout our 10-year history – no matter how we have grown over that time. And we will continue to do so.
Some of the ways we put these ideals into practice are:
- Providing open and honest advice.
- Giving away our time for free. We estimate that we give away about 1/3 of our time each year, often by helping people through free initial consultation sessions.
- Providing free resources on our website. Our website is crammed full of informative guides, podcasts, videos, FAQs and glossaries. There are free template legal forms you can download, and our blog is one of the most widely-read legal blogs in the country, with a huge number of articles and tips on all sorts of topics.
- Supporting good causes. Such as campaigns for justice, carbon-zero commitments, part-owning and protecting 110 acres of woodland, and other initiatives within our community.
