What Makes the School Leavers Experience So Important for Students Today

Leaving school is strange. One day you're sitting in a classroom that's been part of your daily routine for years, and then fairly suddenly, it isn't. No dramatic ending, no clean break, just a gradual realisation that something significant is coming to a close. For young people in the UK today, that transition has become one of the most emotionally loaded periods of their lives, and the way they mark it says a lot about what this generation values.

Mock The Week star is coming to Exeter

She has starred in Mock the Week and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and now comedy star Ava Vidal is heading to The Exeter Phoenix as part of her He’s Not a Keeper show.

The show, taking place on 15th December, aims to expose all those tell tell signs that mean He’s Not a Keeper.

He’s Not a Keeper is based on Ava’s own experiences and those shared with her by women and men across The UK.

A ‘National Day of Action’, coordinated by the Student Assembly Against Austerity group (SAAA), is taking place today (20th November 2013) on university campuses all over the country. This comes as a response to Government plans to privatise the Student Loans Company by 2015. In June of this year, in fact, the Government announced their aim to raise £15 billion from the sale of public assets by 2020. Devon clothing brand celebrates success

Two Devon students are celebrating six successful months of their clothing brand Elsie & Arthur.

Having launched the business in May, the two are now reaping the rewards of their hard work.

Retailer John Lewis is urging final year students and graduates not to miss the deadline for its 2014 graduate scheme. The scheme closes to applications on 1st December 2013.

The graduate scheme offers jobs in one of five specialities; Retail Management, Buying, Merchandising, Corporate Finance and a brand new Technology Scheme.

South Dartmoor students perform soundtrack for new Dartmoor film

Three Devon students have recorded a unique piece of music to accompany a new film about Dartmoor National Park.

The collaboration for this original work was between National Park Authority member of staff Sarah Oxton, South Dartmoor Community College students and Head of Music at South Dartmoor, Rachel Lewis.

The composition, conducted by Rachel Lewis, features Howard Ellacott (17) from Buckfastleigh, on flute, Stan Carrodus (17) from Ashburton, on piano and Esther Beyer (16) from Liverton, on the harp.

Pioneering Green Unit Launches in Exeter

Exeter communities are set to benefit from an initiative by the University of Exeter Students’ Guild using a £300,000 funding boost from the NUS (National Union of Students) Student Green Fund project.

A group of Exeter University students are taking part in the prestigious Npower’s future leaders challenge, which sees those teams involved setting up a project to promote sustainable living in their local community.
