New survey reveals SW student perceptions of clearing process

As students across the South West prepare to receive their exam results next week (Thursday 18 August), a new survey has revealed around half of current A Level and BTEC students in the region aren’t fully aware of the options available to them since recent changes to the clearing process came into effect.

The research, which was carried out on behalf of Northumbria University in the run up to A Level results day, looked at students’ perceptions of the options available to them after receiving their exam results.

University climbs student satisfaction rankings

The University of Exeter has climbed places to 11th in the National Student Survey rankings of student experience.

The University has been rated best in the South West, and has also retained second place within the 24 members of the prestigious Russell Group of research-intensive institutions, based on an average across all question category scores.

The overall score at Exeter was 85.9 per cent, reflecting the outstanding student experience offered at one of the world’s top 100 universities.

New student accommodation hub for Exeter completed

A new £8 million student housing development in Exeter is gearing up for the next intake of students after local contractors Midas Construction finished the 159 room residence this month ahead of the new academic year starting in September. Exeter University top ranked for sport

The University of Exeter has come fifth in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) rankings for the 2015 / 2016 season—equalling its best ever overall achievement and beating its own record on points.

Veteran Newsnight legend Jeremy Paxman is among a number of venerable figures to receive honorary awards at the University of Exeter’s graduation ceremony.

The University’s new Chancellor, Lord Myners of Truro, will be installed on Monday July 11, in the first of six days of ceremonies in Exeter and at the University’s Penryn Campus.

Clare Marx, President of the Royal College of Surgeons, and Sir Robert Francis QC, who oversaw the Francis Report into the Staffordshire Hospital scandal, will also receive honorary doctorates.

Local University team win international robotics competition

Harper Adams university students came second in an international robotics competition.

The team, made of four MEng Agricultural Engineering students, entered the competition at the Field Robot Event in Gut Mariaburghausen in Habfurt, Germany.

Students from the full time BTEC Dance course at Exeter College have been selected by Rambert Dance Company to perform at a national showcase at The Peacock Theatre in London’s West End.

The showcase will be held on Tuesday 28 June and is the final event of Rambert Elements, a nationwide choreography challenge for schools and colleges that has been taking place throughout the 2015/16 academic year.
