Exeter Deaf Academy have won the national track and field competition for Deaf schools for the second consecutive year. It is the first time the Cup has been won by the same school two years in a row in the history of the event.

The annual National Deaf Schools Track and Field Sports Day took place on Wednesday 4 July at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Organised by Deaf school Heathlands, five schools from across the UK compete in a variety of track and field events.

A driven team of students from South Devon University Technical College have been pushing all the boundaries to take part in the prestigious Royal Navy Junior Leaders’ Field Gun Challenge. The annual contest is led by the Royal Navy and sees teams of 16-24 year olds race against each other to assemble and manoeuvre a Field Gun, used in historical warfare.

As universities approach the end of term, TV Licensing is reminding cash-strapped students in Exeter that they may be entitled to a refund worth over £50.

Since 1 April 2017, TV Licensing has changed the way refunds are calculated meaning that 23,175 students packing up and moving home for the summer could be entitled to a refund just in time to celebrate the end of their exams. A 13-year-old pupil from Exeter School is celebrating being named Young Musician of the Year at the prestigious Two Moors Festival.

Double bass player Adam Cole shares the title with three other young musicians.

Year 9 pupil Adam likes playing classical and jazz music on double bass and piano.

The artwork of two Exeter School pupils has received recognition in a prestigious national award.

William Dean and Lydia Brookes-Ferrari's biological specimen drawings made the shortlist of the Nancy Rothwell Competition.

Exeter student celebrates win in Deaf Rugby 7s World Championship in Australia

Exeter Deaf Academy student William Thomas has just returned from Sydney, Australia, after being selected to play for the Welsh team in the biggest Deaf Rugby 7’s tournament the world has seen.

This was the first major international Deaf rugby tournament for more than fifteen years, and included both men’s and women’s teams from Australia, England, Fiji, Ghana, Japan and Wales. Wales reached the final having defeated Fiji in the semi-final 26-21, and went on to defeat England 21-15, and take the trophy.
