Exeter climbs in top 20 of Guardian University Guide 2026

The University of Exeter has increased its standing in the top 20 UK universities in the Guardian University Guide 2026 .

Exeter climbed one place to 17th in the latest guide, published on Saturday 13 September.

The result that means the University of Exeter has secured a top 20 place in all three major university rankings.

Teaching excellence, student satisfaction and career prospects were among the factors used to rank universities.

Exeter College has celebrated this year’s higher education graduates with a unique event that allowed them to celebrate at home, although it went above and beyond a simple live streamed ceremony.

Exeter College’s Higher Education Graduation normally takes place at Exeter Cathedral, but due to social distancing and government guidelines it had to be adapted this year. Two students from University of Exeter have won £5,000 in prize money and $250 in Amazon Web Services (AWS) credits via the AWS Educate Programme after taking part in Amazon UK’s first ever Campus Challenge competition.

The winning team includes Ben Fleming (22), Quinn Leatherbarrow-Stokes (23) who are studying at University of Exeter and their friend, Nikolaus Porsch (23) who is studying at City University London.

An Exeter School Sixth Former has been offered a place in the prestigious Rodolfus Foundation Choir.

Lower Sixth Former Ciara Morris is one of 300 members of the youth choir that performs a variety of events from evensong to BBC and Philharmonia orchestra concerts.
