Exeter Chiefs chairman Tony Rowe believes that the club’s impending takeover by an American consortium could transform the Gallagher Premiership.

The billionaire owners of English Premier League club Bournemouth have agreed a deal for the club, subject to the membership’s approval at an extraordinary general meeting on May 7.

If the deal is ratified, Exeter Chiefs will become the latest Premiership team alongside Newcastle and Bath to secure major new investment.

Striker added to the City squad

Exeter City have completed the signing of striker Sam Parkin, subject to international clearance.

The 32-year-old front-man moves back to England to join the Grecians after having spent three seasons playing north of the border – for St Johnstone, Queen of the South, and most recently Scottish Premier League side St Mirren, with whom he won the Scottish League Cup last season.

After starting his playing career as a youth player at Chelsea, Parkin went on to have permanent spells with Swindon (with a better than one-in-two strike-rate over his three seasons) Ipswich, Luton...

From January until the end of June, the racecourse hosted 300 separate events, with an average of 500 visitors per week and just under 12,000 delegates in total....

The wait is over as Andy Murray wins Wimbledon

With Britain basking in the sun, 77 years of national frustration, self-deprecation and scratching of heads finally melted away as Andy Murray beat Novak Djokovic to become the first British man to win Wimbledon since Fred Perry in 1936.

In a display of immense strength, belief and resilience, as well as enormous skill, Murray defeated the gifted Serbian world number one in straight sets, 6-4 7-5 6-4. In their wildest dreams, few fans would have anticipated Murray not dropping a set, especially given the pressure, wilting heat and the sheer fight of his opponent.

Exeter Chiefs have been getting stuck into their pre-season programme for a couple of weeks now, but today they headed to the seaside for a different sort of work-out with the club’s conditioning staff.

Whereas much of the initial work has been centered around the club’s Sandy Park, this time the Chiefs playing squad popped along to nearby Exmouth Beach for a series of testing drills.
