Neil Parish MP opens new bowls centre

Neil Parish MP formally opened Mid Devon Indoor Bowls Club’s new playing surface on 5 October at an event also attended by Tiverton Mayor Janet Rendle and local councillor Neal Davey.

Sachin Tendulkar to retire from cricket after 200th test match

Sachin Tendulkar, the great Indian cricketer, has announced his decision to retire from all forms of the game following his 200th test match - the second in a two-match series against the West Indies next month.

The 40-year-old retired from one-day internationals last year.

Tendulkar's international career has spanned four decades, beginning in 1989 with a test match against Pakistan.

New coach to head up badminton performance programmes

For the last three years, Exeter Performance Centre, based at the University of Exeter’s Sports Park, has become renowned for nurturing emerging badminton talent from across the South West.

This September, the Centre has welcomed a new Head Coach, Kelvin Edwards, to its ranks to help further expand and develop its performance programme.

Devon and Cornwall Police have taken to Twitter to thank both sets of supporters from Saturday’s local derby clash between Exeter City and Plymouth Argyle at St James Park for their part in a day that they have described as ‘largely peaceful’.

The Police were on high-alert throughout the build up to Saturday’s game deploying six police support units, four horses, a dog support unit and air support.

Devon and Cornwall Police have praised both sets of supporters for their compliance with police instructions and for their behaviour on the day despite visitors Argyle going down...

Exeter City earned a 3-1 Devon Derby victory at the expense of Plymouth Argyle at St James Park.

A sticky first half ended goalless, but the game sprung to life after the break.

City went a goal up through Arron Davies, but a Luke Young free-kick gave the City fans a sinking feeling.

However Alan Gow’s delightful effort put the Grecians back in the lead in the final ten minutes, and Scot Bennett sealed the victory in stoppage time.
