Harley bags a brace!

Match report: Carlisle 1 Exeter City 3

Exeter City turned a terrific performance into three points on their longest away day of the season, triumphing 3-1 away to Carlisle United.

The Grecians took the lead initially through Ryan Harley, netting his first since returning to the club, shortly after Alex Nicholls’ effort had bounced back off the bar.

But the hosts were level before the break when speedster David Amoo worked space to dink in a cross from the right, allowing Steven Rigg to touch in an equaliser from six yards.

However a second for Harley before...

Ali Hepher says Exeter Chiefs will go “full bore” at ensuring this latest block of Aviva Premiership fixtures finishes on a high note.

Having notched up successive league wins over Newcastle Falcons, Harlequins and Bath to move to third in the current standings, the Devon club will now be looking to add the scalp of lowly London Welsh to their list of victims at Sandy Park today (3pm).

It’s certainly been an encouraging response from the Chiefs, who either side of Christmas lost four games on the bounce in the top flight.

However, buoyed by their first-ever league...

University fencers dominated the results table last Sunday as fencers from across Devon battled for the title of 2015 Devon Sabre Champion. Misha Jessel-Kenyon won the Men's Sabre and Izabela Sosnowska took the Women's title.

The best ever turnout for the annual Sabre contest - hosted at Newton Abbot - signals a growth in popularity for Sabre as the rarest of the 3 weapons in modern fencing (Foil and Épée being more common).

Sabre is quick and dynamic - you can score a hit with any part of the blade and the very softest of contact is all it takes. Electronic score...

Dean Mumm believes Exeter Chiefs can ill afford to let their standards slip when they tackle winless London Welsh in the Aviva Premiership this Saturday (3pm).

The Devon club moved back into the division’s top three last Saturday following their first-ever top flight win over local rivals Bath, but this weekend will come face to face against an Exiles side who have lost all 16 Premiership games to date.

Henry Slade’s 11-point haul with the boot, plus Will Chudley’s late try, ensured the Chiefs of a 16-6 victory against a Bath side, who in turn countered with two penalties...
