Skinner locks in as Chiefs’ number 10 with new contract

Exeter Chiefs fly-half Harvey Skinner has committed his future to wearing the number 10 as he signs a new two-year contract with the club.

The Chiefs centurion has been enjoying a stellar campaign since establishing a new half-back partnership with Italian international scrum-half Stephen Varney. The pair have helped to shepherd Chiefs to an EPCR Challenge Cup quarter-final this weekend.

Exeter Hawks reach national finals

Four-time Olympian runner and European 10,000 metre champion Jo Pavey delighted crowds in Exeter on Sunday morning, as she started 2,842 participants off on the iconic 31st Exeter’s Great West Run, sponsored by Tozers! Shaun Antell from Bideford AAC improved on his third place from last years race, by taking the winning spot in one hour ten minutes and seven seconds, in good running conditions. Until 2nd November, AEG is giving Rugby Club Youth Sections (Junior and Mini teams) in England, Scotland and Wales the chance to win one of twenty sets of Canterbury kit (shirts, socks, water bottles and boot bags) as well as 20 Canterbury balls and 2 ball bags for their club.

The legendary racehorse Best Mate will be remembered at Exeter Racecourse next Tuesday when a beginners’ chase is staged in his name.

His owner Jim Lewis will make his annual pilgrimage to the course to present the prize to the winning owners of the race and to lay a wreath in his memory. Best Mate was widely regarded as the ‘people’s horse,’ his popularity reaching beyond racecourses and stretching out to every corner of the land. Over the last few weeks ‘Rugby fever’ has hit the nation with everyone getting ready for what was set to be a nail biting Tournament.

Hooker Jack Yeandle admitted it was an “easy decision” to pen a new contract extension with the Exeter Chiefs.
