Exeter Racecourse launches Community Raceday and calls for Devon’s community heroes

Exeter Racecourse has launched a brand-new Community Raceday and is inviting people across Devon to nominate a community hero who deserves recognition.

Community Raceday takes place on Friday, February 20, during half term, and coincides with Devon Day at the racecourse. The initiative celebrates the people who make a real difference in their communities – from volunteers and carers to sports coaches, fundraisers and quiet grafters who go above and beyond.

Every nominee will receive a free ticket to Exeter Racecourse, and one overall winner will be treated to a Family...

Midfielder returns to St James Park

Exeter City have completed the signing of Reading midfielder Jake Taylor.

Twenty-four-year-old Taylor returns to the Grecians after a loan spell with the club that lasted for the majority of the 2011-12 season.

The twice-capped Welsh international spent the first part of the season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, but he has now completed a permanent move to St James Park as he brings an end to a seventeen-year spell with the Royals.

New team Teignmouth Thunderbirds (TBirds) Cougars were proud champions in the Regional Back to Netball Festival after a classy 6-2 win over runners up Swaggamamas on Sunday 24th January 2016.

TBirds made it eight wins out of eight in the Back to Netball Festival, organised by England Netball beating 15 teams from across the region to win the tournament at Paignton Sports Hub. It was an encouraging display from the new Back to Netball Club squad, who largely controlled proceedings.

Baxter's joy as Stevenson makes Exeter return

Rob Baxter admits the return of Lewis Stevenson to Sandy Park “ticks a lot of boxes” for him as Exeter Chiefs look to advance over the course of the season. With both Damian Welch (pec) and Mitch Lees (bicep) set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines following injuries sustained, Baxter has found his options in the Exeter engine room becoming somewhat stretched in recent weeks.

Exeter swimmers are Devon Champions

The first weekend of the Devon County Swimming Championships took place at the Plymouth Lifecentre on the 16th and 17th January and Exeter City Swimming Club brought a mountain of silverware and medals back to Exeter.

Team Captain Dominic Wooldridge led the way by winning the Championship finals and picking up two trophies in the 200 fly and the 400 freestyle. Dom also took 3rd place in the 200 IM. Closely followed by Aliyah Mai-Webb collecting the championship final trophy for the 200 IM and then reaching the Championship final in the 200 fly and the 200 b/k where she was second...

Stevenson heads back to the Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs have today welcomed back Irishman Lewis Stevenson to the Aviva Premiership club on a deal until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old forward, who spent two seasons at Sandy Park between 2007 and 2009, returns to the Westcountry from Guinness Pro 12 outfit Ulster Rugby.

With Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter keen to bolster his second row options following significant injuries to Damian Welch and Mitch Lees in recent weeks, the arrival of Stevenson could not be better timed as the Devon club look to push on both in the Premiership and European Champions Cup....
