From St James Park to the Euros: Tracking Exeter City Academy Players on the International Stage

As Europe’s biggest stars regroup for international duty, national team rosters for Euro 2024 are filled with familiar names - few of which trace their beginnings to the lower tiers of English football.

Exeter City’s academy may not make headlines, but its graduates are making tournament squads. And while attention builds toward summer fixtures and early Champions League predictions on many of the most popular and secure betting platforms, another narrative deserves recognition: players who started at St James Park and are now representing their countries on the international...

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has again gone ‘Down Under’ in his pursuit of adding new talent for the 2016/17 season.

Having already recruited experienced Australian international prop Greg Holmes from the Queensland Reds, now Baxter is adding another Wallaby to the club’s playing roster with the acquisition of Dave Dennis from the NSW Waratahs.

The all-action forward, who is equally at home either at lock or in the back-row, has penned a three-year deal with the Aviva Premiership club.

The arrival of Dennis, who has been capped 18 times by the Wallabies, is...

Worcester 15 Chiefs 30

Exeter Chiefs maintained their lofty status in the Aviva Premiership as a powerful second half performance saw them to victory over Worcester Warriors.

Having netted first half tries through James Short and Ian Whitten, one of which was converted by Gareth Steenson, Rob Baxter’s side were unable to shake off the Worcester shackles.

Four first half penalties from Tom Heathcote ensured the two turned round all level at 12-apiece and although the Scotsman added a fifth kick early in the second half, it was scant reward as the Devonians finally kicked into gear.

Exeter City climb the table

A GOAL and an assist from Alex Nicholls proved the difference for Exeter City as the Grecians came away from Victoria Park with their third league win in as many games. The win moves Exeter City up to 12th in the Sky Bet League 2 table, only four points off the play-off places.

After a cagey opening half an hour Nicholls headed City in front, connecting with Lee Holmes’ whipped cross from the left-hand side. Despite being under the cosh for much of the second-half the Grecians defended resolutely, and after some fantastic work from Nicholls down the right-hand Joel Grant wrapped up...

Twenty-four-year-old Taylor returns to the Grecians after a loan spell with the club that lasted for the majority of the 2011-12 season.
