Townson joins Chiefs coaching staff

Glen Townson has joined Exeter Chiefs as the men’s assistant forwards coach.

Formerly the academy transition coach with Bristol Bears, the former lock forward makes the move to Chiefs having been in his transition role with Bears since September 2022.

Townson said: “It has been a real ambition of mine to be a Gallagher PREM coach, and to get the chance to do it at the Chiefs, one of the most successful clubs in the last decade, a club with rich history, was an opportunity I had to take.

Maynard School's equestrian team crowned National Champions

Equestrian team members from the Maynard School in Exeter, the South West’s leading independent girls’ school, made the long trip to Hickstead in Sussex worthwhile when winning the NSEA Eventer’s Challenge on 3 June 2016.

A loud, colourful Rio themed parade will kick off the Devon School Games which are coming to Exeter for the first time in their four year history this Wednesday 29th June.

The Devon Summer School Games will take place across 3 sites: Exeter Arena will host the RIO themed opening ceremony with St Luke’s Science and Sports College hosting all the Inclusion Sports and the Exeter Saracens pitches providing the location for a variety of sporting competition.

Rootin’ Tootin’ Fun at Exeter 7s

Saddle up for a rootin’ tootin’ day of fun when Sandy Park hosts the Mitsubishi Motors Exeter 7s this summer.

Fans are invited to wear their best Wild West outfits and give the players a traditional Chiefs welcome, with a twist.

Success for Exeter City Swimming Club in regional champs

Exeter City Swimming Club had a hugely successful South West Regional event this year with more of its swimmers than ever achieving the qualifying times required to enter. In total 43 swimmers qualified with 39 swimmers taking part in 182 individual races, with 47 finals being swum and a total of 20 medals achieved. All those that took part either beat their entry times or confirmed personal best times which is excellent given the hard racing they had taken part in recently.

It’s all down to the singing, say Exeter men’s skittles team the Saints who triumphed in an intercounty tournament held in Bude.

Captain Paul Kennard said the Saints are known for their vocal abilities in competition.

A plethora of stars from the world of jump racing will descend on Teign Valley Golf Club in Devon on Monday, June 6 when a charity golf match takes place in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund.

The event has been organised by Malcolm Barrett from Kingsbridge who has been involved in charity fund raising days for the IJF for 15 years.

Olympic, World, Commonwealth and European medallist Rebecca Adlington OBE is backing St Sidwell’s Point in Exeter.

Rebecca, who swam in four Olympic finals winning two gold and two bronze medals in Beijing and London, said she is ‘delighted’ to hear of the project.
