Bicton to host Area dressage festival

Bicton Arena will be hosting the British Dressage Area Festival Semi Finals for the next three years with the first on October 20 – 22, 2017.

The allocation is a welcome addition to the arena which has seen the popularity of both affiliated and unaffiliated dressage grow rapidly in recent years. It currently hosts an average of three dressage competition days a month with competitors in the affiliated classes travelling from across the country.

Exeter head coach, Jo John, has been selected to take part in an exciting new programme aimed at creating the next generation of top class coaches. The World Masters silver medallist from Hemyock is one of 15 coaches selected from across the country to take part in Coach 2024. Dartmoor’s racing Clydesdales are back at Exeter Racecourse on November 20, when the track celebrate Devon Day. Professional jockeys will on board the gentle giants urging them down the home straight in aid of the Devon Air Ambulance.

The race, which comes under starters’ orders at 12.20pm, is an annual highlight on Exeter’s calendar, with the gentle magnificence of these huge horses drawing cheers of admiration from the crowd.

A teenager from Exeter Chiefs’ HITZ programme has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

Ash Carter is one of three finalists shortlisted for the HITZ Best Rugby Performer award supported by Land Rover. This award will be presented at the HITZ Awards on 28 November.

Stagecoach South West has announced its sponsorship of an award-winning community netball club, which has teams across the region.

The transport operator is the headline sponsor for the CASC Teignmouth Thunderbirds (TBirds) Netball Club for the 2016/17 season. Stagecoach South West will be supporting the Exeter and Torbay teams, who regularly play in the Exeter Netball League and the adult and junior Torbay Leagues.

The community grass roots club has 50 brand new custom uniform dresses for the season, which proudly display Stagecoach South West’s logo.

Academy youngster Harry Strong hopes to use the Anglo-Welsh Cup as the perfect ‘stepping stone’ to help develop his career at Exeter Chiefs.
