Playing football can improve bone development in adolescent boys, new research shows.

In a study comparing adolescent footballers to swimmers, cyclists and a control group of boys not involved in regular sport, scientists at the University of Exeter found football led to significantly better bones after one year of training.

Well done to Exeter School alumnus Ben Green and Lower Sixth Former Tom Lammonby for their selection into the England U19 test and one-day squads this summer.

Both Exeter School players have been representing Exeter Cricket Club in the Premier Division as well as playing for Somerset.

Ben has been called up for two four-day matches against India, with Tom selected for a five-match Royal London One-Day Series. Tom has also been invited to play for an invitational XI versus India at Loughborough.
