Jack Nowell is back and ‘roaring’ to go ahead of the new season, following his successful tour of New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions – and he’s turning out for a new team!

But worry not Exeter Chiefs fans, for the young star is only making a guest appearance in a select squad put together by club legend Gareth Steenson for his testimonial game.

Jack has volunteered to join his teammate when the match is played on August 12. However, it is not yet clear in what capacity.

Steenson is celebrating 10 years as an Exeter Chief and as part of his celebratory year is staging a game featuring an Exeter select side who will take on a Classic Lions team featuring Mike Tindall.

And Nowell said he was looking forward to celebrating the special occasion.

He added: “It’s going to be a real honour to be alongside Gareth on the day. We’ve been through a lot together and this will be yet another highlight. I can’t wait!”

Steenson said: “My squad will be mostly made up of old boys and so it is great to have Jack bringing the average age down.

“We’ll put him to good use on the day, even if it’s as a water carrier!”

Tickets for the testimonial game at Sandy Park are available now via the Exeter Chiefs website. Go to https://ticketing2.exeterchiefs.co.uk/match-tickets.aspx
