Georgian Youngster Tchumbadze Becomes a Chief

Exeter Chiefs have completed the signing of young Georgian international prop, Bachuki Tchumbadze, ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 23-year-old front rower moves to Devon to play his club rugby outside of his native Georgia for the first time in his career.

“I really enjoy English rugby, and I’m truly honoured to have the opportunity to be a key part of the Exeter Chiefs,” Tchumbadze said.

“I’m well aware of the crucial role that forwards play in the team’s system, and I’m really looking forward to making my debut in the Premiership.”

The 24-year-old will get his second outing in the famous red jersey after he was named in their starting line-up for their latest tour clash against the Highlanders on Tuesday.

The England international suffered defeat on his debut for Warren Gatland’s side against the Blues last week, but he will get his chance to impress once more in a back three combination that also includes Scotland winger Tommy Seymour and Irish full-back Jared Payne....

Chiefs fab four star in England win

A delighted Eddie Jones described England’s victory over Argentina in San Juan on Saturday as one of the best team efforts he has been associated with during his coaching career.

The Red Rose country, who included Exeter Chiefs quartet Harry Williams, Henry Slade, Jack Maunder and Don Armand (pictured) in their ranks, fought back from 31-23 down to snatch a last-gasp 38-34 victory.

Argentina replacement fly-half Juan Martin Hernandez thought he had won the first test for the Pumas with his late drop-goal, but replacement winger Denny Solomona, one of 10 new caps, went over...

Townsend keen to kick on

Stuart Townsend admits he is still coming to terms with being crowned a Premiership champion with club side Exeter Chiefs.

Having kicked off last season on the bench for loan club Cornish Pirates at Bedford’s Goldington Road, the talented scrum-half ended it by lifting English rugby’s top prize in front of a packed Twickenham crowd.

The 21-year-old was very much part and parcel of the all-conquering Chiefs outfit, who saw off rivals Wasps 23-20 in a pulsating final that went to extra time for only the second time in the competition’s history.

It capped a remarkable...

EXETER City supporters will have the opportunity to own a historic piece of their beloved club when work starts this summer on a new grandstand at St James Park.

Around £3.5million worth of improvements are scheduled at the ground over the coming year. At the centre of this work will be the demolition of the Old Grandstand, which is sponsored by Stagecoach, and is the oldest structure at the ground, dating back to 1926.

The football club is working with Exeter City Council, which owns the stand, to give fans the opportunity to buy seats before it is demolished.

The England football team have been put through their paces during a top-secret trip to the Royal Marines’ Commando Training Centre in Lympstone ahead of their game against Scotland this Saturday.

The following days would see them experience an array of activities that Royal Marines recruits undertake, including a night camping...

Exeter City's home form must improve next season

Paul Tisdale successfully guided Exeter City to their first ever EFL playoff campaign this season and deserves tremendous credit for that achievement alone – even if his side managed to fall at the final hurdle in a brave 2-1 defeat to Blackpool at Wembley. However, a tilt at automatic promotion would surely have been possible if the Grecians hadn't dropped so many points at St James' Park over the course of the campaign.

Despite finishing an impressive fifth in League Two this season, Exeter have the seventh worst home form in the division, accumulating the same amount of points...

Johnson brings curtain down on 'phenomenal' journey

Tom Johnson admits it has been a “phenomenal journey” as he this week brings the curtain down on his career with newly-crowned Aviva Premiership champions Exeter Chiefs.

Brought to the Devon club in 2007 from Coventry, the 34-year-old forward has been an integral cog in the Exeter machine in recent years.

One of just a handful of players who remain from the Championship-winning side of 2010, Johnson has been a standard bearer for the Chiefs, not only helping the club to establish themselves as a proven force within English rugby, but also that of European rugby as well....

A sporting challenge led by the world's greatest sailor is being cheered on with special reason by an Exeter accountancy firm.

The qualifiers for the 35th America’s Cup are now underway in Bermuda and, if all goes to plan, four times’ Olympic gold medallist Sir Ben Ainslie could be lifting the trophy in late June.

Sir Ben, who launched Land Rover BAR (Ben Ainslie Racing) two and a half years ago to bring the prestigious America's Cup back to Britain, is a long-standing client of PKF Francis Clark.
