Plans are afoot to double prize money in some BE classes, and increase it to 15th place in April’s open intermediate, in order to draw more competitors to the Westcountry.

Sponsorship manager Beccy Barrett said: “We’re delighted that Bicton Arena is attracting a range of...

Saracens 18 Exeter Chiefs 20

Just as Sandy Park remains a fortress for the Exeter Chiefs, so Allianz Park is regarded as just the same for European champions Saracens.

Undefeated on their own patch for 21 months, it took a monumental effort from Rob Baxter’s side to emerge victorious from this brutal Aviva Premiership contest with a priceless four points.

The victory, Exeter’s seventh of the campaign, not only ensured the reigning English champions remain top of the pile after nine rounds but, more importantly, they are now five points ahead of Mark McCall’s side, who are next best in the standings on...

Paul Tisdale made three changes to his starting XI as the Grecians looked to get back on track following the defeat away to Crawley Town in midweek. Kane Wilson, Liam McAlinden and Jayden Stockley all came into the side in place of...

Exeter Chiefs head coach Ali Hepher says he and his squad are “excited” at the challenge that awaits them when they travel to Saracens in Round Nine of this season’s Aviva Premiership on Sunday (3pm).

The Chiefs claimed pole position in the league standings a week ago when they not only made the most of Sarries slipping up at Gloucester, but they then themselves recorded a 31-17 home win over Harlequins 48 hours later.

Although not at their vintage best in seeing off Harlequins - the Chiefs trailed 17-14 at the break - the reigning champions regrouped well during the...

Another rough night for the Grecians

Exeter City fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Crawley Town in Sky Bet League Two.

Despite Dean Moxey putting the Grecians ahead in the first half, a leveller from Josh Payne and two goals from substitute Jordan Roberts secured the win for Harry Kewell’s side on a disappointing night for City.

Paul Tisdale made three changes to the side that were narrowly beaten by Chesterfield last weekend as Lloyd James, Kyle Edwards and Reuben Reid all came into the starting line up in place of Lee Holmes, Jayden Stockley and Liam McAlinden.

An entertaining first half saw the home side...

The 2017-2018 English Premier League season is in full swing as we approach the all important and pivotal Christmas period, which often decides the shape of the likely top four, along with those fighting it out for Europa League places and indeed the teams that will be contesting a relegation battle.

One team that won’t have such a problem is Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City , who sit a tidy eight points clear at the top of the table after a run of frighteningly good results in the past couple of months.

Manchester United came out of the blocks fast, but it is the blue side...
