Grecians battle to take narrow victory on the road

Exeter City battled well to take all three points as they beat Port Vale 1-0 in Sky Bet League Two.

Jordan Storey scored his first senior goal in the first-half which was enough to win it for the Grecians, who had to defend well against a Vale side who put City under considerable aerial pressure.

But credit to City who defended excellently, with standout performances from Storey and Pierce Sweeney in the centre of defence.

Today's Anglo-Welsh Cup Final has been called off, due to the adverse weather conditions affecting the country.

The decision has been made with the safety of supporters, players and officials in mind. An announcement about a new date and arrangements for ticket holders will be made in due course.

Morecambe 2 City 1

Exeter City fell to their first defeat in four games in blustery conditions at Morecambe on Saturday.

The Grecians, with the wind in their favour first half, started the match brightly and were deservedly in front when Pierce Sweeney found the bottom corner. However, they conceded a soft goal from a corner shortly after and then Michael Rose hit an effort home in the closing stages of the second half to give Jim Bentley's side a much-needed three points in their battle against the drop.

Manager Paul Tisdale made three changes to the side that had drawn 1-1 with Yeovil Town...

Triumphant on home soil in 2014 against Northampton Saints, the Chiefs have subsequently come unstuck against Saracens and Leicester Tigers in the past two finals.

It’s a statistic Pellow...
