Playing professional football was once a future dream for all us young football fans, but for youngster Ethan Ampadu, that dream has become a reality.

Playing professional football since the age of just fifteen years old, Ampadu has significantly impressed for Exeter City throughout his short-lived career so far, gaining all sorts of accolades from some of the biggest names in Football.

1) Ampadu made his professional club debut aged just 15 years, 10 months and 26 days old against Brentford in the League Cup, becoming the clubs youngest ever player, breaking Cliff Bastin’s record that has stood for 87 years.

2) Ampadu can play all over the pitch. So far this season, he has showed his qualities from defensive midfield, and also within centre-back, gaining a few man of the match nominations along the way.

3) His father, Kwame Ampadu, is an ex professional footballer who is currently working as an Arsenal academy coach. But he has previously worked for Exeter City, being the under 18s coach under first team manager Paul Tisdale.

4) Ampadu has regularly played for Wales’ U19s squad, making numerous appearances. But Ampadu is also eligible for England, Ireland and Ghana, so there is plenty of options for the current Welshman to go.

5) Imagine being a 16 year old, and being worth millions of pounds. It would never have been imaginable or crossed your mind, but for Ethan Ampadu, he is just that. With Arsenal and Chelsea all chasing the youngster, the blues seem to be the most confident in beating off the competition, after launching a £2 million bid. But will Ampadu’s instincts pull him closer to the red side of London alongside his father? Only time can tell.

Many have advised Ampadu to stay at Exeter City playing first team football on the regular, rather than seeking this big money move away from the South-West coast. But when two of the biggest football clubs in the world come knocking, it really is hard to turn down the offer, especially at such a young age.
